The Chrysocolle is a hydrated copper silicate in a fascinating range of blue-green colours. Its name comes from the Greek words "Chrysos" and "Kolla," meaning "Gold" and "paste", respectively. This etymology refers to the historical use of this mineral in ancient times as a binding agent for welding various gold objects. It was also used for making jewellery and art objects, or as a pigment for making paints and cosmetics. Chrysocolle often forms in association with other minerals such as Malachite and Azurite. It is mainly mined in copper mines in various parts of the world, including Africa, Germany, Russia, Israel, the USA and Peru.
In lithotherapy, Chrysocolle is considered a calming and positivity stone. It is given protective virtues, especially against the negative energies surrounding it. According to these beliefs, its vibrations and copper content would help relieve and reduce physical and emotional pain. In connection with the Chakras of Throat and Heart, Chrysocolle is often used to improve communication and free emotions. Synonym of balance, it would help to stabilize moods, promote let go and overcome grief and fear. The Chrysocolle symbolizes peace and harmony.
The Chrysocolle, rich in copper, requires special attention to preserve its qualities. It is an acid-sensitive mineral, even those present in sweating, especially in prolonged contacts. It should not be exposed to extreme temperatures or left too long in the sun. It is not recommended to immerse it in water or store it in a humid environment. To clean it, use a soft, dry or slightly moistened cloth if necessary, taking care to dry it properly.
