Lapis Lazuli: Description and Healing Properties

Lapis Lazuli is a metamorphic rock composed of sodium and aluminum sulfur silicate. Its deep blue color is primarily due to the presence of Lazurite (up to 40%). It also contains traces of Calcite (veins), Pyrite (flecks or sparkles), and Sodalite. The most notable deposits are found in Afghanistan, but Lapis Lazuli is also mined in Russia (Lake Baikal region), Siberia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the USA, Chile, Angola, and Canada. Used for millennia, Lapis Lazuli has been prized in jewelry, decoration, painting, collecting, and crystal healing.

Nicknamed “The Stone of the Egyptians”, Lapis Lazuli has been used for spiritual and healing purposes since Antiquity by numerous civilizations across the world.
